On behalf of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft 2.Stammstrecke INGE 2SBSS, represented by SSF Ingenieure AG, we have thoroughly considered a dismantlable temporary structure/interim building—with a ticket hall, lounges, and offices—for Munich Central Station, intended to remain in place for approximately eight years, explicitly as an alternative to a conventional container solution.

The hybrid timber/concrete prefabricated structure, as a strict modular design, is carefully integrated into its urban context, responding sensitively to its partly heritage-listed surroundings, and—with the greening of its facades and publicly accessible terrace roofs—demonstrates a clear awareness of the responsibility such a placement entails for the neighborhood, the environment, and its users.

A distinctive feature is the design of the façade: a brick façade that is suspended, ventilated, and thermally insulated—with a custom profile designed to remain completely maintenance-free for many decades—finished in a glossy, undulating white for the public areas and in a sandy, fine-textured light brown for the residential zones, and becoming tactually more refined toward the top. This is an investment that, beyond embracing social diversity and a wide range of neighborhood interactions, aims at harmonious aging together and, in its construction typology, was capable of effortlessly accommodating changes in use/apartments already during the building process—and likely also in the future.
