The originally proposed, sharply angled urban form—composed of three sections of varying lengths and heights—is being reshaped. Through the careful twisting of the southern building mass along its longitudinal axis, almost magical changes occur: on the one hand, this maneuver nuances and reinforces the street corner of the block; on the other hand, the three elements suddenly coalesce into a unified ensemble, while the space between them emerges as an atrium—a casual access and meeting area for everyone, offering barrier-free and inclusive access to all areas of the residential project.
The outdoor areas available to the residential community are spread over three levels: On the courtyard level, in addition to the intensively used atrium, there is the tree-lined inner courtyard with its wall-to-wall flowering meadows, children’s play areas, and generous meeting spaces; on the third level, a fragrant roof garden features seating steps and shaded wooden structures with benches; and on the terrace of the fifth floor, elevated gardens for urban farming are situated right next to the communal laundry room with its drying terrace. The green, terraced front gardens, together with the staircase leading to the atrium, create both physical and social separation from the surrounding walkway. Beyond the communal spaces, every apartment—without exception—offers an individually usable outdoor area in the form of a terrace or balcony that distinctly and expressively projects into the semi-public courtyard or street space, with the upper floors additionally featuring herb or flower boxes positioned in front of the windows.
