The collision of rigid, man-made geometries with an exposed, tide-dependent coastline gives this Sardinian coastal village its unique topography. The finely grained structure of the village, which has so far been solely dedicated to fishing, has not yet been obscured by the slowly growing tourism industry.
We saw our task as shaping Marceddì’s emerging role as a tourist destination—particularly as a culinary hotspot—in a way that enhances and preserves the village’s distinctive character.
The city’s future direction is currently open, and additional commercial areas are necessarily needed. The city also considers a coordinated transition in development towards the neighboring municipality essential. These topics are to be discussed as part of the revision of Kempten’s land use plan. The areas we are working on, which also include a significant proportion of residential development, will likely be part of the political discussion on the city’s future development.
