A large landmark, radiant by day and glowing by night, confidently extends into Königsbrunn’s main street. With its striking membrane envelope, it is sensually present in the public space. The new Cultural Center symbolizes a fresh start, a beacon of enlightened civic engagement, and a workshop for ideas.
Its robust foundational structure—a table-like form with multiple stacked slabs—features exterior staircases that choreograph movement and a uniformly diffused natural light that allows for complete versatility: transformation, the staging of knowledge worlds, intimacy as well as openness, tranquility as well as participation.
Between a supermarket and a drugstore, a market hall unfolds, typologically communicating with an open market space in the Anger area through its generous windows. A diverse mix of shops, interspersed with various gastronomic offerings, promises to be a vibrant urban element, also thanks to its orientation towards the outdoor space.
Parking is efficiently accommodated on the roof, ideally connected to the retail areas via two access cores.
In collaboration with Ammann Albers StadtWerke and Seifert Hugues Architekten.
