For the newly developing residential area of Eschenbüel (Ammann Albers StadtWerke, Zurich), the construction of a district parking garage is planned as a central urban element. It will also serve as a noise barrier for the adjacent residential sections.
Our feasibility study, commissioned by the municipality, demonstrates that 300 parking spaces can be urbanistically integrated in a functional and architecturally appropriate manner.
The wedge-shaped volume rises towards the residential area while lowering towards the landscape, allowing the parking structure to blend gently into its surroundings. From the north, it appears as a natural extension of the terrain, while its green roof, acting as a fifth façade, connects not only to the landscape but also to the new eastern tangent road. As a result, when entering Uster, the structure becomes a symbol of the green district.
Facing the eastern tangent road, the parking garage remains mostly enclosed, reinforcing its role as a noise barrier for the residential area behind it. Any openings are limited and fully glazed to maintain this function.

The freestanding, solid stairwell is connected to the main structure via a glass joint.
Facing south towards the residential area, the building presents itself as semi-open and urban, with a stone façade that reflects a city-like character.
To the west, overlooking the tree-lined green corridor along the stream, the structure remains open, featuring a lushly vegetated mesh. Its gradual recession harmonizes with the scale of the surrounding neighborhood.
